John Q. [Quincy] Osborn
« on: August 17, 2016, 05:26:28 PM »
I need help to ID John Q. [ Quincy] Osborn's parents.  A more complete bio can be found on Find a Grave ID # 142777682. We are almost certain from known data , he was born in OH.  I have had 3 WA State death cert searches & a Spokane Regional Health Dist. search & neither has a death record altho he lived in Spokane 41 yrs, died in his home there in 1921.  His obit is spelled Osborne but his gravestone is Osborn. DOB on stone is 1849; Other sources give July 1847 & July 1851.  My only hope now is thru Osborn Family Genealogy records.

Welcome to the board.

Have you looked into this one?  http://www.digitalarchives.wa.gov/Record/View/44749B97885687D65E6DABF1A6E3E927

It shows a J. I. Osborne who died in Spokane on June 24, 1921.  Spouse name is listed as Mary.  I've found over the years a lot of bad handwriting on forms ends up as even worse when they get typed/keyed in to systems.  Mary could very easily have been mistyped from May.  And J. I. could have been wrongly entered from J. Q.

Just throwing out a possible lead.  You may have already checked this one.  I'll keep an eye out for further data.

Thank you ; I think you have found him;  Before I had rec'vd  info from the Spokane Library, I had no specific death date.  I had WA archives  send a Death cert for a John G/ Q/ ?? Osborn in the 1920 census at Espanola prct Eastern State Hosp Medicine lake Spokane age 69 Widower b. 1851.  I saw the cert & I rejected it as not ours.  Since he had a long illness he may have been there in 1920 but the census said widower.  Obit says he died at home but your info says medicine lake.  I think in spite of the conflicting data, the chance of 2,  John Osborns dying on the exact  same date 24 June 1921  is pretty slim. I think your digital archives  of dod  24 June  1921 is he.   I assume the WA Archives you sent  on J. I with wife Mary / May would NOT be a deceased wife???

The May (Mary?) would have still been alive.

Thanks; The WA state death cert I saw & rejected was  for a John Osborn [with gvn name John] not just initials. One more item to think we have the right person.
